Operating from Hilsea (Bus Lanes) from 1000 to 1600.
The 5h May marks 50 years since the start of Southdown operated Limited Stop services in the Portsmouth area. On this date in 1974, the 740 commenced providing fast services between Wecock Farm Est and Portsmouth.
To mark the occasion, we are staging a one-off celebration event operating former Southdown vehicles over the 740 route between Hilsea and Waterlooville. We shall be running services on a 15 minute frequency enabling enthusiasts to enjoy most if not all of the attending vehicles.
A souvenir booklet with a detailed history of the route plus also, buses listings and times will be on sale from 1000 at the control point at Hilsea priced at £6.00. Please note that we are only able to accept cash so we would be grateful if possible you could have the correct money for your booklet.
How to get to Hilsea: BUS: Hilsea is served by First Bus services from across Portsmouth, Waterlooville and Fareham. Stagecoach services from Havant and Chichester also serve Hilsea.
